It should come as no surprise that I am a sucker for the J. Crew clearance sale. I seldom go to the brick-and-mortar stores, but give me an extra 30% off of already marked-down stuff, and you've likely got yourself a sale. Throw in free shipping and "likely" becomes "definitely." Here are some favorites that will soon be mine.
I am not a big fan of the skinny jean. I am not skinny, therefore I figured that this type of jean does not apply to me. I had also hoped that the trend would pass, taking its little friends the cigarette pant and the jegging with it. I was wrong. It looks like it's got some staying power, so I figured I might as well give it a try. I wandered into the Gap last week and on a whim tried on their 1969 Textural High-Rise Skinny Jeans in black. Color me surprised - They are actually cute and comfortable. I've been a low-rise girl for so long, but after not working out for 5 months, I'm really enjoying the high-rise.
I recently made an impulse purchase from Yoox.com. I was buying a couple pairs of jeans and saw a cute pair of slip-on ikat print Keds. I haven't worn Keds since junior high, and boy have I been missing out. Seriously. Turns out my $19 footwear purchase (which is the apparel equivalent of adding a pack of gum at the check-out of Target) was part of the 2010 Steven Alan / Keds collaboration. I heart them.
Over the last couple weeks, I've really begun to appreciate how wonderful Bon Iver's self-titled album. It has been out since June. It's fantastic, and may be one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. The first time I heard the song Calgary played on the Current, I was truly blown away.
Also, thanks to the magic of Google Image Search, I found this really cool picture of Justin Vernon and a cat.
The sunrise this morning was one of if not the most beautiful I've ever seen. I tried (unsuccessfully) to capture it on my phone while driving. It makes me happy to live where I do. Nothing better than a sunrise/sunset over a lovely body of water.
File this one under "Humans with way too much time on their hands." Photographer, Beatrice de Guigne staged and shot a full wedding for Barbie and Ken. The pictures are pretty amazing and quite spot-on in terms of current wedding photography. All shots were found here.
